It's really not possible to line up every cymbal before the session and chuck out any cymbal that is pitched similarly to another. The goal of cymbal choice when making an SDX or EZX is to offer as much variation as possible to suit different customer tastes. No drummer would select a kit featuring cymbals of similar tune. It sounds horrible if you put two of them in the same groove.
Many expansions end up with some cymbals of nearly the same note. This can **** up an entire sound library.
Some Toontrack expansions only have one or two hi-hats and the edge-samples are more open than the tip sounds when the controller is totally closed. While the sounds of my old TD-12 sound like pure gunshot horror compared to every single Toontrack expansion - it has more steps between closed and open hats and also better samples of putting some pressure on the pedal.Įven the transitions when opening while playing sound better on the roland, there´s strange noises when you open the hi-hat while playing toontrack sounds.
