It's really not possible to line up every cymbal before the session and chuck out any cymbal that is pitched similarly to another. The goal of cymbal choice when making an SDX or EZX is to offer as much variation as possible to suit different customer tastes. No drummer would select a kit featuring cymbals of similar tune. It sounds horrible if you put two of them in the same groove.

Many expansions end up with some cymbals of nearly the same note. This can **** up an entire sound library.

Some Toontrack expansions only have one or two hi-hats and the edge-samples are more open than the tip sounds when the controller is totally closed. While the sounds of my old TD-12 sound like pure gunshot horror compared to every single Toontrack expansion - it has more steps between closed and open hats and also better samples of putting some pressure on the pedal.Įven the transitions when opening while playing sound better on the roland, there´s strange noises when you open the hi-hat while playing toontrack sounds. Not very inspiring to play. You´re mentioning the biggest problem that I have with toontrack samples: The sounds are nice but they don't cover as much ground as I thought they would. Also the fact that there is only one crash! And like 3 rides? I understand if its great for jazz but they kept hyping it as this wonder pack that is great for everything. It will absolutely not cover all your drum sound needs, but what it does it does very wellįor me the hi hats are very odd, not a good open hat sound. Add another EZdrummer with this EZX, copy midi part, solo kick and voila. I like the Nashville one, but sometimes the Kick is to subtle. It works great if you use it with another EZX. Do not expect close mikes intimate sounds it big boomy and roomy. This is a "Ronseal" type library (UK ad reference there) It does what it says on the tin. Plain, unadorned, intimate.Ĭertainly not for you SS, Love your stuff BTW. Here's an example of drums I find appealing. Not putting down anyone who doesn't share this perspective. But "huge drums" are usually dull to me.Īgain, personal thing and anecdotal. I tend to like stuff that's highly treated/hallucinogenic or very dry/organic/confrontational. (If you wonder what my band sounds like, this is an example.) Not everybody is into what I'm into and vice-versa.
